Iron Dominion: Don't Expand Too Fast
Iron Dominion looks like a game about growing big quickly. It isn't. My instinct was to grab every resource node in sight, and both of my early settlements got overrun because my defenses couldn't keep up with my ambition.
The turning point was accepting that a small, well-defended base beats a sprawling fragile one. Turtle up, get your walls and a stable food supply, then expand one node at a time. Each raid gives you breathing room to consolidate if you're not overextended.
On the tech tree: pick a lane early. Trying to research everything at once left me weak in all directions. I focused on defensive tech first, which bought me time to build an economy later.
It's a slower game than its screenshots suggest, and honestly that's the appeal. Set a plan, check back through the day, and you'll enjoy it far more than if you treat it like a tapping race.
