Pocket Orchard and the Case for Games That Leave You Alone
Most farming sims on mobile want you back every few hours with a notification. Pocket Orchard doesn't, and that alone made it my go-to wind-down game for a month.
The loop is plant, tend, harvest, sell. What makes it more than busywork is the market: prices move with the seasons, so a bit of planning goes a long way. I started timing my harvests to catch the good sell windows, which turned a cozy game into a light puzzle.
It's not endless. Once your orchard mostly runs itself, the later game gets repetitive and there's less to optimize. I don't hold that against it — some games are meant to be enjoyed and then set down.
If your evenings need something quiet before sleep, Pocket Orchard fits the slot perfectly. Just don't expect it to grip you for the long haul.
